The Optimised Scheduling tool on the Daily Schedule helps dispatchers find the most efficient time slots for new jobs. It analyzes existing routes to find "gaps" near specific locations, prioritizing travel efficiency to reduce technician travel time and fuel costs.
Prerequisites
- The system setting Enable Optimised Scheduling must be turned on.
- The properties must be geocoded so the TomTom API must be enabled.
How to Use
1. Locate the Tool
Navigate to the Daily Schedule page. The Optimised Scheduling panel is typically located in the sidebar or accessible via a toggle button.
2. Configure Search Parameters
Fill in the following fields to define your search:
- Technicians: The tool searches the schedules of technicians currently selected in the main schedule filter. Ensure the correct staff or Employee Groups are checked.
- Target Suburb: Enter the suburb where the new job is located.
- State: Select the state for the target suburb.
- Radius (km): Enter a numeric value (e.g., 10). The tool will look for existing jobs within this distance of the target suburb.
- Allocated Time (min): Enter the duration of the new job in minutes (e.g., 60). The tool ensures the found gap is large enough to fit this job.
- Days: Enter the number of days to look ahead (e.g., 14). The search starts from the currently selected schedule date.
3. Run the Search
Click the Find button to execute the search.
Understanding the Results
The Recommendations Table
If suitable slots are found, a table will appear listing the top 5 options, sorted by distance (closest first):
- #: Rank (1 is the best/closest option).
- Date Time: The suggested start and end time for the new job.
Tip: Clicking the date link will reload the Daily Schedule view to that specific day.
- Technician: The name of the technician who is already in the area.
- Distance: How far the technician will be from their previous or next job (e.g., "2.5 km").
The Map Visualization
Below the table, a Google Map will display:
● Blue Dot: Your Target Suburb.
● Red Dots: Existing jobs found in the area.
